Cannabis and Those Who Suffer From Asthma

Asthma-and-Cannabis
We here at MD411 try and take a look at the wide variety of different uses for cannabis and the effects that is has on the medical community of patients who suffer from debilitating ailments. I personally do not suffer from asthma, but I recently had an argument with a brother of mine who does have asthma.  As I made the argument that there ARE strains of cannabis that can help sooth asthmatic symptoms and help the airways open for a select group of patients. The following strains of cannabis can help the asthmatic patient:
  • Blue Dragon- (60/40 Indica Dominanat)
  • Orange Crush- ( Pure Indica)
  • OG Kush (San Fernando Valley)- (70/30 Indica Dominant)
  • Casey Jones- (Sativa)
  • Blue Cheese- ( 60/40 Sativa Dominant)
  • Master Kush- (Indica)
  • Jack Cleaner- (Sativa)
Scientific Approach- Where a control group of asthmatics were given marijuana versus a group that was given salbutamol (ventolin inhaler), both showed improved ventilator function. Although they both showed equal benefit, the former was introduced into the body at a much faster rate. Though after the first hour, both were equally as effective. There was no significant effect in mood change or cardiovascular change in the control group. The derivative used can be considered to be used as an adjuvant in certain asthmatics. Application- However, it is understandable that smoking would not be the best way for him to try and receive this new found medication. Knowing that he has that lung capacity of a seventy year old man who has been smoking non-filtered cigarettes all his life, I know that he would more than likely faint from smoking. The best way for asthmatics to receive their medication, considering that the severity of their condition were this poor, would either be through cooking or tincture applications. People who DO suffer from asthma I am sure are looking at this particular article with some reticence. This is understandable, as it was even hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that marijuana can be used for this particular application. Learn something new every day, eh.
