Marijuana facts have been tossed around that may or may not necessarily be fact. Either the truth has been skewed, or facts that have been published that are backed by funds with a political agenda. I am sure that you have heard all of the differing political views and negatives about the many problems with medicinal marijuana. I am sure that you have also heard all about the positive effects as well. Regardless of public opinion, whether it is in reverence or revocation of certain laws that have already been enacted, fact and opinion are two different things.  Here are some facts about marijuana that you may or may not have known: 1. People that are convicted of marijuana costs prisons upwards of 1 billion dollars a year. 2. If marijuana prohibition ended, 13.7 billion dollars would be saved on law enforcement every year. 3. California produces approximately 41.8 billion dollars a year in crops. 4. Marijuana, and its prohibitions, costs tax payers 41.8 billion dollars a year in taxes. 5. Marijuana that is sold illegally is approximately a 35.8 billion dollar industry. If marijuana was legalized, that tax money could go to building schools, highways, tax cuts, and allowing for more money in government budgets. 6. 33% of the American public believes that ending prohibition would boost the U.S. economy. 7. Denver has more dispensaries than Starbucks and California recently hit 1,000 dispensaries 8. The weGROW centers create about 75 jobs per center. 9. Medicinal marijuana can be used in the treatment of cancer and the side effects that cancer patients face. 10. Cannabis use dates back approximately 3000 years. It was introduced to the western world in the 19th century to help relieve muscle spasms, anti-inflammatory, pain relief, and anti-convulsion. 11. The states with the highest possession limits to date are: Oregon, Washington, California, and New Mexico. 12. As of November 2011, there were about forty- one patients that used medical marijuana, that were under that age of eighteen. These are just a handful of marijuana facts amongst the thousands. As we move forward, cannabis is poised to gain more and more popularity amongst all ages, races, and religions.
